Christian Distinctiveness

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Our Christian Ethos

At Witley, our Christian ethos permeates every layer of school life. It is the basis upon which we educate the whole child and ensure both spiritual development and academic progress. We have a broad and balanced programme for collective worship which incorporates special times and events within the year. Children are given time for reflection and are encouraged to see the joy and wonder of the world.

Open The Book assemblies are amazing because we see stories from the Bible acted out.

The majority of our assemblies are for the whole school and take place in the Jubilee Hall. One assembly a week is based in the classroom to allow each year group to come together and share the occasion more intimately.  We have regular visitors to our collective worship, such as the Vicar from All Saints Church, Witley, and a team of volunteers from ‘Open the Book’ who deliver bible stories through drama and storytelling.

Reverend James comes to visit us. He tells us about God and Jesus.

Our Values & Ethos

Gold Book Assembly

Every Friday, we have a special Gold Book Assembly.  This is a time where we celebrate successes and achievements from across the week.  Children can be nominated for a variety of reasons, from demonstrating perseverance and resilience in their learning to showing kindness and consideration towards others.

All Saints Church

I love our school being next to the church.

We have very close links with All Saints Church, Witley.  Our children visit regularly throughout the year to learn about the church itself, and the way in which is it used for worship and celebration.  As a whole school, we attend at Christmas and Easter and there is a special service of thanksgiving for Harvest Festival in the Autumn when we collect donations of food to support the local community and beyond.  Our local Sunday School meets in the Jubilee Hall on Sundays – please contact the Church Office for further details.

Little Saints Toddler Group is held at the church every Friday from 9am -10.30am, including during the school holidays. There is tea and toast, coffee and chatter – alongside plenty of toys for small children to play with.  It is a relaxed and safe place to meet people and let your children interact and play.

The church also hosts Messy Church once a term on a Saturday from 3.30-5.30pm (dates advertised at the time). Families are welcome to go along for craft activities, singing and a teatime treat of sandwiches and cakes.
Parents who wish to exercise their right to withdraw their child from Religious Education or Collective Worship will need to contact the Headteacher to discuss arrangements for alternative provision.
