Resources for learning from home during School Closure
Weekly learning packs have been emailed to parents each Monday and from next week we will be testing Google Classroom with our Year 1 class before rolling out to all years.
We also recommend using the government backed packages from Oak Academy and BBC Bitesize.

Reading at Home
We ask parents/carers to read with their children as often as possible – this would ideally be on a daily basis but we would hope that it would be at least three times a week. Reading with your child should not focus solely on the book they bring home in their book bag; we encourage you to share a range of books together and make reading to them a part of your everyday routine, too. When you listen to your child read, please make a brief written comment in the Reading Record books. More advanced readers may choose to write their own comments in the reading record book or note down the meaning of new vocabulary they have encountered! Children in Reception are given key words to learn on a weekly basis.

Home Learning
Children in Reception (Dolphin Class) are given a ‘WOW book’ when they begin school. This book provides them with a forum to record something special they have done at home before sharing it with the rest of the class.
Year 1 (Penguin Class) and Year 2 (Puffin Class) receive topic-based home learning activities. These are generally open ended and the children can choose how to respond and present their ideas. Penguins will often have a Phonics activity as part of their home learning to reinforce the work being done in school; this can be completed online but we are always able to give paper copies to those who need them. All children regularly take home Maths games to enjoy with their families and we encourage children to spend time talking about their learning from school at home.
