We are immensely proud of the excellent results that our children achieve at Witley C of E Infant School. At the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception), children are assessed to identify who has reached a Good Level of Development. In Year 1, there is a national Phonics Screening Check, and in Year 2, standardised assessments are carried out in the summer term as the children approach the end of the Key Stage One curriculum.

Phonics Screening Check
In Year 1, children take part in a short screening check to assess their phonic knowledge. The check enables us to identify any children who may need some extra support to secure their phonic knowledge which, in turn, will help to improve their reading skills.
Year 1 % Achieving ‘Expected Threshold’
Early Years Foundation Stage
At the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage, children are defined as having reached a Good Level of Development (GLD) if they have achieved at least the expected level in the prime areas of learning and the specific areas of mathematics and literacy.
