Our Vision, Values and Ethos

Start children off on the way they should go and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6

Our Vision

Our small, Christian school nurtures and inspires children as they take their first steps on the journey of life long learning.

Our Values

We have six core values that we believe in and strive to demonstrate throughout the school;

  • Friendship
  • Trust
  • Respect
  • Confidence
  • Resilience
  • Love

Every half term we discuss one of these values in more depth as part of our whole school/class assemblies and PSHE lessons. Children and adults alike conduct themselves in a way that reinforces our core values on a daily basis, making Witley C of E Infant school a calm and inclusive place to work and learn.

We Are Special

Witley is a small, nurturing school where everyone is known and valued.

I love playing on the trim trail and The Hill.

Each child’s needs are met.

Life at Witley is like being part of a big family.

The school is small so I get to know all the children.

Children are unique and we bring out the best in each and every one.

The settings and surroundings of the school are special.

Children are very focussed and the behaviour is amazing.

Pupils are kind and considerate and play happily together.

Our warm and friendly school offers the perfect setting for a stimulating learning  environment.

Pupils are confident and curious learners. They work hard and have positive attitudes to their learning.

Our Aims

The staff and governors at Witley C of E Infant School are committed to providing the best education for all our children in a caring Christian environment.

We aim to fulfil our vision by:

  • Providing a safe, happy, caring and stimulating learning environment

  • Valuing  the individual, encouraging self-belief, developing and raising self esteem

  • Providing each child with the skills and attitudes needed to become a lifelong learner; we encourage an ‘I can’ attitude, where mistakes are embraced as part of learning

  • Enabling the children to communicate effectively

  • Teaching the children to celebrate diversity, recognise similarities and respect different faiths, beliefs and cultures

  • Helping children to acquire a range of positive personal, social and emotional attributes essential to their health and wellbeing

  • Ensuring good progress for all pupils which builds on their prior learning

  • Providing a broad, balanced and creative curriculum that includes rich opportunities for children to learn through play and in the outdoor environment

  • Enabling parents and carers to join their child on a journey of development and learning

  • Joining with other schools, All Saints Church, local and wider community groups and charities to improve outcomes and opportunities for all children

School Development Plan

The School Development Plan (SDP) is a strategic plan for improvement that should reflect the characteristics of the school and its community.  It must identify priorities that are unique to the individual school and set out how the long term aims will be met.  We are pleased to share the headlines of our new SDP with you here; should you require any more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • To increase the proportion of the most able children achieving GDS at the end of Key Stage 1.

  • To improve the outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and precisely evaluate the impact of the support they receive.

  • To develop our teaching and learning throughout the curriculum and in the wider community

  • To further refine our school’s Christian character and distinctiveness.
